A self-help group
It is our dream at Tathapi to build a Centre of excellence where women can access techniques for self help. These methods will revolve around the body and mind connections. Anandi will provide holistic health services for women include generalized clinical services; provide self-help and rational health techniques in nutrition, menstruation and contraception, infertility, menopause and mental health care. The primary objective is to ensure that all women, particularly the poor, are freed from the financial and social burdens resulting out of irrational health practice.
The Centre is envisaged an oasis in the current desert of specialized medicine and over - medicalisation of all aspects of women’s health. The atmosphere will be one where any query will receive technical and rational information, learn about available referral centres, and meet other women with similar health issues and receive peer support.
The Centre will also run courses to provide health education to women, in order to create an environment for rational practice. Women will be trained as para - health workers to provide primary health services in the geographical areas in which they live. They will be backed up by mobile health clinics. The Centre will also house documentation and library services on women and health.
Anandi has begun to function with self-help sessions for women in menopause. So far 6 sessions with 50 women have taken place.
The Centre is presently open 9 to 5 pm.
Clinical services are available by appointment.
